The Halo Setting: Why the Blaze® Changes Everything
A halo setting surrounds your center stone with smaller diamonds, making it read significantly larger. The conventional approach leaves gaps between stones. Bez Ambar’s patented Blaze® eliminates them, edge to edge, no interruption, an unbroken field of light. Available exclusively through Bez Ambar and authorized retailers.
There is a moment, when you hold a well-made halo ring under light, where the center stone and the diamonds surrounding it stop looking like separate things. The boundary dissolves. What you see is a single, undivided field of brilliance: a stone that seems larger, warmer, more alive than its certificate suggests.
Most jewelers approximate this effect. Bez Ambar engineered it.
The Logic of
The Halo
The idea has been with us since the Georgian era. Surround a center stone with smaller diamonds and the eye, unable to locate where the stone ends, perceives the whole composition as one large gem. It is an optical truth, not a trick. The light is real. The brilliance is real.
What has always compromised the halo is the gap. In a conventional pavé halo, small round diamonds sit in individual prong settings. Between each stone, a sliver of metal is visible. Under light, these slivers interrupt the halo’s continuity. The eye catches the seams. The illusion breaks at the precise moment it should be most persuasive.
A 1.00-carat diamond in a standard halo reads closer to 1.20 carats. Better than nothing. But not what the halo is capable of.
A Different Kind of
Stone
Bez Ambar’s solution was not to refine the existing approach. It was to abandon it.
The Blaze® accent stone is square, not round. Each one is individually cut to match the geometry of its neighbor and shaped to mirror the curvature of the center stone it surrounds. When set, these stones sit edge to edge: no prong gaps, no interruption, no visible seam.
The halo closes.
What results is a continuous perimeter of light that merges with the center stone rather than framing it from a distance. A 1.00-carat diamond in a Blaze® halo reads closer to 1.40 carats. The difference between those two stones in equivalent quality represents a meaningful investment. The Blaze® closes that gap for a fraction of the cost, not by hiding the stone’s size, but by completing it.
Bez Ambar received a design patent for the Blaze® setting. It exists only here, or through an authorized Bez Ambar retailer.
What the Halo
Can Become
The halo is not a single thing. It is a structural idea that takes different shapes depending on what the piece is asking for.
A single halo is the essential form: one row of accent stones, clean and enduring, suited to every center shape. A double halo adds a second concentric ring, more elaborate in intention, more dramatic in presence. A hidden halo tucks accent diamonds beneath the center stone’s basket, invisible from above, visible only as an unexpected warmth when the ring catches light at an angle.
Then there are colored halos. Sapphires, rubies, fancy colored diamonds replacing white stones as the accent. The colored halo does not compete with the center stone. It converses with it.
The center stone shape matters less than people expect. Round brilliants and cushion cuts integrate most naturally with the halo’s geometry. Ovals gain visual length. Princess cuts pair with a square frame that mirrors their own corners. The stone does not need to be exceptional to carry a halo well. In a sense, that is the point.
An
Invitation
Every halo ring we make is built around a specific stone. The Blaze® is engineered, not approximated. The accent diamonds are cut to fit, not selected from inventory to come close.
If you have a stone, or are looking for one, we would like to talk about what surrounds it.

What People
Ask Us
Does a halo setting actually make a diamond look bigger? Yes, and by a meaningful amount. A well-executed halo adds 0.25 to 0.50 carats of visual weight to the center stone. The Blaze® maximizes this because there are no gaps between accent stones. The halo fuses with the center stone rather than framing it from a distance.
What makes the Blaze® halo different from a standard pave halo? A pavé halo uses round diamonds separated by small metal gaps. The Blaze® uses custom-cut square diamonds, each shaped to sit flush against the next, with no gaps between them. The result is an unbroken perimeter of light and a significantly stronger size illusion. Bez Ambar holds the design patent.
How much does a Blaze® halo add to the cost of a ring? The Blaze® costs more than a standard pavé halo because each accent stone is custom-cut for its position. But the visual return, an additional 0.30 to 0.50 carats of apparent size, typically far exceeds what that investment would buy in a larger center stone.
Can a halo be added to an existing center stone? In most cases, yes. We build halos around existing stones regularly. The feasibility depends on the current setting’s architecture. Reach out and we will assess your stone.
Where is the Blaze® available? The Blaze® setting is patented by Bez Ambar and is only available through us or through an authorized retailer. It cannot be legally replicated.
